Perfectly Armored, Part 2

Last time, we began looking at the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 6. There, believers in Christ are instructed to put on the “whole armor of God.” It’s a fascinating admonishing, and the text reveals much about what we face each day, and the power behind it. The message continues today as we go deeper into the Scriptures…

Look at Ephesians 6, verse 11 now:

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil

Do you see what it says there? Put on the “whole” armor of God! We are to be fully armed! We are to stand fully protected against the enemy, standing boldly with the strength and power of might of our Lord. It doesn’t tell us to pick our favorite pieces! It says to put on the whole armor of God. If you have a weak spot, that’s where the enemy will target you.

Now, anyone in the military or in law enforcement will tell you that it is a critical, if understated fact, that you don’t go into battle unarmed and unprotected. You prepare ahead of time by equipping yourself, readying yourself for the conflict ahead. You do not get suited-up in the midst of that conflict. You prepare ahead of time. Well, Chuck Missler said concerning our enemy, “we aren’t just in battle; we are already on enemy turf!

Now for the kicker. Verse 12, if you aren’t already prepared for it, completely pulls the rug out from under you!

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This has long been one of my favorite little verses. Many people however fail to understand the significance of this verse. You see, in the Greek, all those things that we read here, about the principalities, and powers, and so forth, are not Earthly governments or peoples. He’s not talking about politicians! No, these are ranks of angels! “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Friends, our real enemies are not of this world. They are the ruler of darkness, the princes of spiritual wickedness! These are the fallen ones: Lucifer and his fallen brethren!

The Message continues next time…
