Verse 8 continues, “And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.”
What a terrible position to be in?! The time had come, and they weren’t ready!
Whether they knew how deceived they were before or not, now they utterly realized the dire straits they found themselves in! The lamps of the hypocrites had failed, and they stood in darkness with no recourse but to beg their wiser companions for a share of their oil.
You see, the foolish may have rejected the notion that they needed the oil before because they didn’t want to meet the requirements for it.
Maybe they even thought they could make it with what they had…
How many times have you sat in your vehicle and looked at that gas gauge sitting on “E” and though “I can make it…”
Listen to me know, are you spiritually sitting on “E” today?
Maybe that’s what they were doing, unaware that they were gambling on a level they weren’t ready to commit too?
Whatever the case, the foolish ones now understood the severity of their condition, and now, looking back, they’d be happy to do what was necessary for a share of oil! The hypocrite will one day be more than happy to take on the responsibilities of true and sincere belief!
Happy to accept the moral confines of the faith!
Happy to turn away from a world of delicious sin for the oil to put in their lamps…
Too late, I’m afraid…
“Waiting on the Bridegroom” returns next time…
